I am currently a freshman in college. I got a bit of a late start at the age of 23, and as such have found myself to be a little rusty in an educational setting. The bottom line is that, after reading this article, I feel far more prepared to add something relevant to our discussions in philosophy. I had a hard time comprehending how the philosophy of ethics is relevant in the real world. It seemed to me as though universally breaking down every possible action into the category of right or wrong was an act in futility because the real world sees bad things happen to good people everyday. I am glad to have found this perspective which helped me to see the bigger picture of ethics and their indisputable role in a functioning society.
